1. download DrayTek VPN client, you will need to scroll down the page to Router Tools section and click on current version (Smart VPN Client V.3.6.5.2 at the time the article was written)
2. install downloaded product accepting all default options (you might get some warnings about specific drivers – agree to this)
3. after the software is installed run it (it should be located in Programs/DrayTek Smart VPN client group)
4. initial screen contains three sections. Step zero needs to be done just once and set your operating system settings to allow functions needed by the VPN client. If you are already connected to the Internet you do not need to use option in Step one.
5. in step two you need to input some data provided by the person who set up your VPN gateway/router for you (VPN provider). If it is new connection you need to press Setup button which presents you with another screen
6. Profile name is just reference name like a router localization (i.e. Cracow branch)
7. VPN server/host is the field where you need to enter data you obtained from your VPN provider (it might look like 200.211.15.122 or somename.somename.com)
8. Do not enable One Time Passwords until instructed to do so by your VPN provider
9. Type of VPN is the data you need to get from your VPN provider (try default PPTP if type is unknown)
10. PPTP is the data you need to get from your VPN provider (try default No Encryption if you are unsure)
11. Confirm OK
12. In section Step two you should see your Profile name we set up in point 6 of this article. The Connect is the button you need to click to start your connection
